Probing implants must be done with care.  A gentle probing force must be used so that the tip of the probe does not penetrate the junctional epithelium and connective tissue all the way to the bone.  In health tissue, the probe will stop at the coronal level of the connective tissue.  In the presence of inflamation, the probe tip may penetrate close to the bone.
